Car dealer giving car key to buyer

Our customers don’t just come from the Lexington area. In fact, many of them come from out of state. Is buying a car out of state difficult? What do you do about registration and taxes? You might even be wondering, “Can I buy a car out of state? Is that even allowed?”

Buying a car in another state is not as difficult as you might think. So, we’ve put together the guide below on how to buy a car in another state.

Can I Buy a Car Out of State?

Buying a car out of state is done all the time. We’ll provide all the documentation you need to get your car registered in your home state, even if you don’t live anywhere near the Columbia area. That doesn’t necessarily include any forms your home state may need you to fill out, of course. So, check with your DMV about any forms that may be required when buying a car in another state.

Can I Buy a Car Out of State and Just Register It in That State?

Just registering the car in the state it was purchased may seem like a simple solution. But, most states require their residents to register their vehicles with their DMVs within a specific period of time, even when buying a car in another state. Most states also post these requirements on their websites.
